Venice Bound

Border Crossings has just published a special All-Canadian issue which will be launched in the Canadian Pavilion at the prestigious 55th Venice Biennale on May 31, 2013.
Featured in the issue is an interview with Shary Boyle who is representing Canada. With her in the magazine is a stunning array of Canadian artists including Julia Dault, Karel Funk, Tim Gardner, Sky Glabush, Sarah Anne Johnson, Michael Morris, Charles Stankievech, Beth Stuart, Jutai Toonoo, and Janet Werner, among others.
“The quality of the work you’ll find in this issue speaks to the high level of maturity Canadian art has achieved,” Border Crossings’ Editor Meeka Walsh noted. “It’s with great pride that we are bringing these accomplished artists to an international art audience.”
The cocktail reception launching the issue will be held at 4:00 on May 31, 2013 at the Canadian Pavilion in the Giardini where the Venice Biennale is held. Performing at the reception are Steven Lambke (Baby Eagle) and John K Samson of the Weakerthans, making the launch of the Winnipeg-based magazine, a truly Winnipeg event.
Copies of the issue will be on newsstands across Canada in the following week.
Border Crossings has also launched a new website. It now offers a complete index of all work published in the magazine since its inception in 1977. This is a valuable academic research tool as well as an important resource for collectors, curators, artists and all art aficionados. This newly designed site will feature selections from published issues, fresh content and ongoing news updates. “Shopping” online is now easier and the magazine now offers advertisers a broader audience reach through an online presence.
Find us in Venice on May 31, and on newsstands across Canada on June 7, 2013.
